Wx Fax reception

Yesterday I tried to capture some WEfax images on the Radio. The band conditions were poor and I could hear a lot of RF noise. I could barely hear the conversations on 20M HAM band. I turned everything on the boat off: air conditioner, Refrigerator, two 12V fans, drill charger. Nothing changed the noise level. I switched the antenna out of circuit and the noise disappeared, so I knew it was coming into the antenna, so was just bad band conditions. Nevertheless even with that substantial RF noise I could still capture WeFax images that were readable.

Here you see the iRig (lower left) and iPad connected to the headphone jack on the radio. The signal was weak and the synchronization was off (black band in the center should have been on the left - like the image below that did sync properly.) The important date and time of the transmission and the valid date and time are quite readable on the original zoomed in image (as you can see on the image below.) So, you could use these for weather forecasting. I would normally send these pictures to the MacPro then open them in Graphic Converter and cut and paste the sections of the picture to put the bar on the left. But usually I capture these pictures directly on the Macbook Pro (or any Mac laptop made in the last ten years,) so that I can view the images forecasted for different days, in a sequence.
