My boat is unusual in that it sails so well on a jib alone that I removed the main and boom many years ago. This has simplified the rig and made it much safer to manage at sea in heavy weather,

The mast is so close to the center of the boat that the sail plan balances well, with sufficient overlap aft to keep the monitor wind vane happy, with a balanced helm. Only the Custom 33s were built this way. The production 33s increased the accomodation by moving the mast forward, and so the main was essential to balance the rig on the production boats.  I use a 155% genoa that is designed to work in winds to 25 kts without reefing. Above 25kts I hank on a storm jib to the baby stay. My sail inventory is 144% jib, 130% jib, 110% jib, a storm jib, and two spinnakers.
