You need to see the NWS charts for planning a trip to avoid bad weather in the tropics. This is PYEB87.gif and PYEB86 from the ftp NWS site June 11, 2014. Shown here is Tropical Storm Cristina heading from Acapulco to Hawaii. And a tropical wave heading for the Islands. These tropical waves come through the Island every few days and drop lots of rain. Occasionally they strengthen into a Tropical Depression. One in 2004 became Hurricane Ivan that swept over Grenada and wiped out most of the yachts that were in Marinas. These charts are also sent out as Radio facsimile charts by New Orleans Radio.
