It’s a bit messy as it was an idea I was working on to make the QBerth a place to do computering. I was able to make the footwell space because I had dragged the QBerth cushion fwd by 30 inches - I removed a bulkhead to do it. To get the width I placed a piece of wood from the steps to the companionway and built a small table. This kept any water splashes from getting to the computer. The varnished box is a sextant. AT the back is the printer - I had gained 30 inches at the foot end of the berth. I subsequently moved the bulkhead back into place to allow for a cabinet for the A/C unit. But I could recoup about a foot ans so slide the QBerth out a foot. That might give me enough extra space to work a small WS into this location. BTW this was in Jan 2005, and the Mac computer is still working, and I am using the Wacom pad to this day on a Pismo running OS9.

CUSTOM 3/4T - 33 FT

Another project at that time was to reduce the likelihood of a lightning strike taking out the equipment, and I had replaced the witing and run them at right angles to the RF cables to reduce magnetic coupling. The picture of the boat shows the plans for a new dodger which I haven’t implemented, and the sail plan which I have implemented. SOP now sails with a single 155% genoa that is designed to keep its shape in winds to 25 kts apparent, at which time I would switch to a small jib. The foot is off the deck so that I can watch for traffic coming towards the leeward side.

The tall doghouse looks okay with the low profile hull sheer, and makes the boat appear to be much bigger.
