Telyt 400 mm f 5.0

Fantastic tele lens with great color. Very sharp on focal plane. Nice OOF bokeh, though color shifting on adjacent objects is typical. Detail in the trees is great, no CA. More examples at  (no WWW)waeshael.Leicaimages.com

From 35 feet away. This model is only 10 “ high. You can see the fine dust on the back and beak.

This squirrel was at least 300 feet away. He was moving around and the wind was blowing the lens on the camera which was oscillating on the tripod (this was before I got the carbon tripod) and I shot at ISO 800 as a compromise. Exposure was 1/640 which is about the slowest you should use for a 400mm lens on an APSC sensor. NEX adjusted to +1 contrast + 1 sharpness, and standard setting. I did some pp in SIlkypix to lighten the fur, and to reduce the color shift on the OOF branches - you can still see a little bit of purple fringing on the small twigs behind the squirrel. The entire scene is in the small inset picture. The squirrel was tiny by eye, but a well fed fatty when seen through the lens. I really needed a 1/2000 to stop all the motion, but at f5 that would have meant ISO 3200.
